Creating a Free Google Mail Account

This is Step 1 of the “How to get your site into Google” post
You should really create a free GMail account. This will be your base for a “Google Account” which you will use for a host of other Google services such as Google Webmaster Tools, Google Analytics, Google Docs etc.

GMail allows POP3 access, SMTP, email forwarding, out of office. GMail also has the great functionality of grouping similar emails which makes it easier to read.
